I’ve always thought heavy ideas that are personal and subjective are best translated by music that’s easy to listed and to makes you feel good.
Like how a comedian deals with controversial issues, but breaks the ice and everyone laughs.
We are mighty, We are young came from a simple piano riff. I never even knew this song was going to be on the album as it wrote itself in a week during the recording process of the songs. I feel in love with the chords straight away, there seemed to be a lot of scope and space in those chords, I could do many things with it. It took about a week to complete and during that time I was sending it to and fro a few friends.
I feel often, and especially within popular music. Artists are very constrained in their lyrical content (bar hip-hop!). The lyrics in this song were not written or thought about, they just came out there and then in the booth. It felt real to me, I didn’t know if it worked or if it was radio friendly, but it hit me so hard… so yeah it stayed.
I knew this was going to be the main single on the album, knew it was Moses but more catchy and knew I loved it a hell of a lot. Just felt right. Aaron Leaman was like “i’ve got the perfect idea” !! So we made this video. More Coming soon.

Hello, Thankyou for reading and the ‘likes’. I am a little behind..apologies>>:-)..I listened to this side..very nice. I grew up in a neighborhood where funk and blues were not just music..but a way of life. I love having that as part of who I am in music. First thing I noticed on your disc is a strong ‘bottom end’. One has to feel that. I was listening to a blues band yesterday..good harp..good songs..I did not hear enough bass to my taste and found the guitar player wanting. I really did funk and accents..Have wonderful holidays..put beautiful notes in ‘The Void’ for all thinkers who go there..:-)..Peace Tony

I can’t believe this. I woke up this morning and my mail box it so out of control, I don’t even feel like posting until I get some rest and do some music. I checked my page and decided I would respond to only anyone new. You came up first. I listened and was floored. First of all Aaron Leaman, was my last post, I think. I just kept running across his name, and a great video would there with his name– then I found him and put two and two together. How well known is he? Secondly, my husband and I are ready to put out a C-D, but we need to polish everything up, I am not a singer, trying to learn to play several instruments all at once is difficult and my hands are a mess, lots of therapy. One night after couple weeks of writer’s block-I spun off a group of poems, my husband read one, and right of the bat– one take, it was our first spoken word. The second “clowns” was similiar, he was settling down on a piece and I said it sounded like the first piano lesson, that I was taught using both hands, the song was called clowns. So in 10 or so minutes I jotted down phrases, ideas,feelings…It was never written down except random scratches. We did one take, I just let the words go. Both of these hit the next day. “Butterfly Stitch” went to number one on Mixposure and Clowns went to number 3 on Sound Click.
We were stunned. So, I hit your sight and boom. You were saying and doing what we have been saying and trying to figure out how to go in a similar mind set but different genres ect. The hand movements, with the intergrity of an real person voice (instrument) was so well done. So many inferences both visually and audibly– honest, simple and entertating. I love the analogy to a comedian’s work. The sillouette, with it’s history, miming, Kara’s Walker cut-outs, sign language– perfect. I have never written this much and have a lot more to ask and say. I’m glad you’ve connected to the music so much, it’s why I do it. Aaron is a great friend of mine and we’ve been working together for a long time. His work is getting more and more recognised which is great. Spoken word is very powerful and direct. It’s why I love hip-hop and poetry… Like my facebook page and keep updated with the album!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and liking my post. I love the story behind the way this song was composed – how it seemingly came out of nowhere, yet is so relevant and full of simple truth. Life (and music) can be so complicated these days that it is easy to forget that small actions can add up to great change – and inspirational songs like this.

I followed the story how you came up with the song and I enjoyed it! We should not worry to much about every little detail of the things we do cause spontaneity leaves ope with the world – it has its own value.
We should also not worry about change, cause change is what always happens, We should not hesistate to go forth and transform, learn, experience.
I feel change as a constant experiential flow. I believe in personal change, lifestyle change and social actions as mutually complementing each other.
The world is changing anyway so we better put it on the positive tracks!

Thank you for the like on my recent post. I was torn in giving you something generic or rather really stating my opinion on your songs. I am tempted to PM you about it, so if you don’t approved and get angry at this I will understand.
I don’t think this song did you justice, lyrics aside. There is a market for it, with the way the video is created, 60’s vibe with the reminiscence of Barkley’s inkblot mv on crazy, amongst other things. I wanted to compare this with Adele, her ‘songs’ are more like a ballad, but without the video itself (though quite repetitive, which I am sure some of my friends would say its wonderful for recreational use), this is hard to stand alone.
I went on to check out some of your other songs, you have a vibe that is similar to Ray LaMontagne, the song that stands out of the couple of songs that I have heard is Beirut Lights. Ray is considered to be a grower in the industry, seeing that you are planning to put a street team together soon. If you ever decide to not produce your songs alone, please make sure to get a producer who knows what they are doing, they can make or break your song and add additional depth to your songs.

Hey! I’d love to work with other producers, they have a lot of knowledge that is seriously valuable. I just can’t pay any! – If any label picks me up I have a list of producers I would like to work with This is just on element to my music though, I’m working on an album which will be released, so if your interested in keeping up to date follow or like the facebook page 🙂

I know what you mean, it’s a lot of work and investments. Most labels these days, usually sign musicians that have some sort of fan base. If and when you get picked up, make sure to research the label, I heard through the grape vine that one ‘indie’ label is picking up artist left, right and center. Getting your songs released is a big step, though is relatively easy on itunes, just make sure you know what you are getting yourself into.
